I have done this on way more than one occasion without and with a drink or two. So you've done it, now what do you do. Get a magic eraser or something? I wish. The absolute worse situation is when you say something to your spouse or child that you would like to take back. Close friends is just about as bad.
If there are young people/teenagers listening to this, learn from it and it will make your life so much better and happier. I wish I had this guidance from my parents or siblings, and I hope my children read this.
- Don't say anything that you wouldn't want others to say to you.
- Most of the time this happens when you're emotional. So when you are, be very careful what you say.
- If you're sick or feeling bad that's almost like be emotional. You're on edge and should put off controversial conversations.
- Don't be hurtful with words. Words leave everlasting scars. This can kill a child's confidence forever, ruin a marriage for a very long time, and end long close friendships.
- If you do it accidentally, apologize immediately.
- If you did it intentionally, only being a better person to the one you hurt will fix it.
- Kids learn this from parents. Don't be this type of teacher.
- Family is possibly the best support group you can have. Don't hurt your family.
- Hurtful words are not always curse words.
- Wait a while before commenting on something or someone you disagree with, or simply state "I agree to disagree with you and I don't thing either of our minds will change, so let's just move on now".
listen, understand, and communicate
Don't say words that are like ink and cannot be erased.
